The Guide Your Family Can Count On

Tyson

Founder, BridgePoint Admissions

Every year, admissions officers read thousands of applications from students with excellent grades, strong scores, and real accomplishments — and most of those applications sound the same.

Tyson built BridgePoint Admissions around an idea drawn directly from his own career: parents of high school students facing complex, high-stakes decisions need someone who can see the full picture clearly, build a coherent strategy, and stay personally involved until the decision is made.

A native of San Francisco Chinatown, Tyson has spent his career serving the communities he grew up in — work that gave him a close, firsthand understanding of what it takes for a student’s story to stand out on paper. That is the work he has done for nearly 20 years as a senior executive in the public and nonprofit sectors, and it is the same work he now brings, as an independent college admissions consultant, to every family’s application process.

His approach is built on narrative repositioning — finding the through-line in a student’s story and shaping an application that is coherent, distinctive, and unmistakably their own.

A College Admissions Consultant with Nearly 20 Years of Leadership Experience

Tyson spent nearly 20 years in senior leadership roles across the public and nonprofit sectors, including executive posts managing multimillion-dollar budgets on behalf of the San Francisco Bay Area's most vulnerable populations.

Years spent translating complex budgets and policy decisions for boards, commissions, and the public built the same skills admissions work demands: taking a teenager's full range of accomplishments, interests, and experiences and shaping them into a story a stranger can understand and connect with in minutes.

Across his career, Tyson has led organizations through complex transitions, managed high-stakes projects from start to finish, and built strategic plans that held up under scrutiny from boards, commissions, and the public.

Tyson works one-on-one with every family, personally, from the first consultation through the final decision. There are no associates, no junior staff, and no handoffs — families work directly with Tyson at every stage.

The Approach

Finding the through-line in a student’s story — and shaping an application that is coherent, distinctive, and unmistakably their own.

That’s narrative repositioning: the same discipline Tyson spent almost 20 years applying to organizations, now applied one family at a time.
